I think that the American public, nowadays, has a weird sense of humor. They enjoy seeing peope hurt and made fun of. This only happens at the beginning of the show. I don't find the judhes comments funny at all. I think that they are allowed to critisize their singing, since that is what they came there for, but anything beyond that is really rude. When they start making fun of their physical appearance, that's when they cross a fine line. Randy and Paula may not do it as much as Simon, but they still laugh when he says something like that. The singers are there to be judged, if they can't handle critisism, then they wouldn't be able to handle being a singer. I don't think that they should cancel the show just because Simon is nasty, he was like that from the beginning and everyone knew that. He has been rude through all the seasons, this one is no different. I watch it to see how good people are singing all over the U.S., not to tue into the latest mean things that Simon says. As long as he only comments on their singing, then I'm okay with that, when he says things about thei appearance and so forth, that's when it makes me hate him. I like the fact though, that he is brutally honest, you don't find a lot of people like that anymore. But, only brutally honest about their SINGING. Well, that's just my opinion.

At times I think they're mean, I don't think they should be talking about appearances. I know there's that certain look but you don't have to be mean about it if they don't have that "look". People go there to get criticized for their singing not their looks so to tell someone they're too fat or that they look like a monkey I think is a little over board.
But nonetheless, every year I say I think they should end it but watch the whole season and enjoy it. I don't think it's as good anymore and I think the bad auditions are dragged on too long. I like how Canadian Idol doesn't show too many episodes of that. It's the same old stuff.

I think that the judges are meaner than usual and disrespectful to the people trying out. Although there may be some people who audition just to get on TV, there's no need for laughing at peoples' names.
I don't think they need to cancel the show, I just believe that the judges should smarten up and be a little nicer. Being rude doesn't help anyone.

no i do not think that the show should be canceled because there are more people that like the show then do not like the show. yes, I do think that the judges are rude and a little mean to the people that they don't like . when people audition for the show the judges being rude is one thing that the people must consider. think of how many people that would be disappointed and hoe much money the TV sation would lose! if the show was going to be canceled i think that they should wait untill next season because it wouldn't be fair to the people who already are ready to audition and the people who made it to the second round already!

No i don't think the show will be cancelled that is how the show gets their good ratings and why the show is so popular, would you rather the judges lie to you, as hard as their comments maybe its just normal for simon to make remarks like he does.

I personally love the show. It is doing something right if it's been on this many seasons. The people who audition know what is in store for them. The judges are brutally honest, and it would be a better world if we all didn't sugar coat things. Lying only gives someone false hope. Hooray for American Idol!

They need to be rude...otherwise we would have william hung as our next american idol...
but truthfully..i think the show should be canceled..its not that entertaining anymore...too much drama going on with that show and the idols...
another thing I hate is one girl from my area made it thru..and now shes always on our local news..and has had a few concerts..and I really think she can't sing..she sounds like britney spears on drugs.

I think that show has been on for several years and when you go on the show, you know what you're in for, potentially... so, I have no sympathy for the people who get razzed by the judges.

OH, and joyceelea is right! Show business is extremely competitive and when you enter into a competitive business you need to be prepared for that kind of abuse... it's just the way it is... if you are upset by what the judges say to you then you need to realize that you're not cut out for that life or the life of any high stress environment... IMHO

I think it should go on...I think hollywood is a tough place to be and if you can't get past those three judges without getting your feelings hurt than you are no way prepared for fame. The tabloids are much more cruel than the judges on american idol.
