Yes, sometimes we feel so homesick for Cape Town we just want to jump on a plane, just to feel the sun, smell the spicy aroma of Africa and have a proper braai with our friends... but then we remember why we left (I was mugged on five separate occasions, being seriously assaulted the last time) and look at our safe homes here, our good jobs and secure future, and the feeling goes away pretty quickly.

Ofcourse we miss our home country. I don't think that anyone can just pack up and leave without missing what they grew up with. But here in the UK you can go down the pub and walk home late at night when th epubs shut and don't have to fear about being killed or mugged. As long as all the new south africans stay in SA, then the UK will stay safe. You can bring up your kids here and know that they will have a good education and job at the end of it all. I do miss the wheather, beer, braai, but the summers here are not too bad at all.

Yes.uhh...I miss Cape Town so much. But as the others said, the life is better here regarding crime etc... but then again, there is plenty of crime here as well. We just get blinded by it because everyone is equal here... I hated it before, but now I am really enjoying it... Loved the snow the other day... You know what, people only allow themselves to get depressed here, but you control your own mind! Life can be just the same here..S.A shops have castle,Savannah, Braai goed,Droewors etc.... So,it is the same really..But better Lifestyle..easier if I may.. But the holidays to S.Africa will be even more enjoyable than living there...And eventually you will come back... :)

I miss South African weather. I would definately go back home, never had a problem getting work there , And although i have been a victim of crime there i believe that it can be avoided (for the most part) by just using common sense.

Of course many, many South Africans are going to miss what South Africa used to be ( and I do not mean apartheid and all its history) but you have to accept that has gone forever. Uhuru is the name of the game and Whites are no longer welcome in the Country. Our weather in the UK only makes it worse but we have lots to offer that South Africa doesnt. Australia may be the compromise for South Africans since you can enjoy the climate as well as a first World Country that respects law and order.

Hallo julle...!
I´m a South African currently working in Mexico. The company I work for sent me here for three months. It´s been two months now and I must admit, I really miss home! "Ek haal my hoed af" to you guys living abroad permanently, must be really hard?
Just remember that you will always be welcome back home in South Africa.
Regards and good luck...
