Jane Fonda and friends were seen photographed on the nation's captial. Is this to protest the war, or publisize a new movie coming out soon?

Specifically because it creates controversy is a negative way (as you demonstrate by your question) it proves they protest out of conviction.
Or are Swarzenegger serving as governor and Ted Nugent speaking at NRA conventions to further their entertainment careers?

"Poeple listen to Jane Fonda, because she's popular and a celebrity."

That, while true, is a commentary on the sad state of the American public's ability (or lack of ability) to think for themselves.

Being a popular celebrity gives these people more knowledge and wisdom on foreign policy? Hardly.

And I do think they do it for the publicity to some extent. They may not be rising stars, but in order to maintain a career like theirs you need exposure and publicity.

Ever heard Sean Penn talk? He is about the dumbest person in Hollywood. These morons bash America at every turn, but would be nothing without America. Total hypocrites.

They have first amendment rights like everyone else. Not that I agree with them. People who often don't even have a GED, who work nothing remotely resembling a real job in between their frequent trips to rehab and divorce court are generally not good sources for foreign policy.

In their minds it is all the same! most of them don't even know why they are doing what they are doing, they just know that it is "politically correct". You have to understand that every thing about their world is fake and scripted from what they wear, who they are seen with, what restaurants they go to, what they drive and just about everything else. Now for the real truth; they don't do what they tell you to do, its all bullshit in Holly-weird. You want this to stop then we all need to stop idolizing them and look at the reality of the selfish lying losers for they are! They want your money but give little of their own, they want you to conserve but they take private jets all over, they want you to pay a fair living wage but they are always having trouble, they want you to accept illegal immigration so that they can hire them for pennies and they want you to treat them like royalty so that they can **** on you!

Jane Fonda, Sean Penn, and the other celebrities that were there are already high-profile stars who are pretty well-known for being liberal. These aren't young, rising actors who need notoriety.

I think they're using their celebrity to promote a cause that they genuinely believe is a good one, not just to get more famous.

Freedom of speech. You have the same rights to express your views. I don't see that taking a political position on issues further their careers. To the contrary, it creates negative publicity because no matter what position they take, a goodly minority, or, maybe, even, majority, of the public will hold contrary views.

Because the war is wrong, and nobody listens to YOU, because you're a nobody. Poeple listen to Jane Fonda, because she's popular and a celebrity.

Their egos are so inflated they actually believe the masses will listen and agree with them simply because they are "famous".
They think their opinions really matter to others. They need to step away from their "role playing" and realize they are mere mortals like everyone else. Opinions are like a..holes and everyone has one.

Too many celebrities are so self-centered, they'd show up anywhere there was a camera. As for Hanoi Jane....ppppffffffftttttt!
