My second period was much heavier. So it’s probably normal.
But normal is a relative term with periods. Flow, flow rate, duration, pain, blood colour, ect all vary from woman to woman. Seeing as you’re only on your second period, there’s no real way of knowing what is normal for your body.

All up, you shouldn’t be loosing more than around 80ml of blood.
But if 80ml comes out in 3 days, you’re going to have a massively heavy period. If it draws out for a week, and flows evenly it’ll be pretty average.
Most women bleed heavily for a day or two, then the period slowly peters out for the next few days.

Do you use overnight pads? (They’re longer so the blood doesn’t leak down you’re butt, and have a much higher absorbency.)
If you do, you should be able to get through the night using one or two pads.

If your at all worried about anything happening with your period, it would be a good idea to talk to your health practitioner.

Blood clots are jelly like clots of uterus lining. They can be a few millimetres to an inch or so. They’re a bit gross, but not really anything to worry about.

That is very normal. Most females their first is very light, because the body really hasn't made any tissue to shed. More then likely you will always have heavy periods now. I had the same problem growing up that mine were so heavy I would bleed through. They sell night time pads that are for heavier flows. Try that, and if you still bleed through set your alarm to wake up after four hours to change it half way through the night. If after the first year your periods are still heavy and you have extremely bad cramping with them talk to your mom. She might be open minded enough to listen to you, and help to set up an appointment with a doctor to get on the pill. I started birth control because my periods were too much to handle. After that it was a lot better. But, like I said give it a while so you know whether or not it is going to remain the same. Some females are lucky and they level out and do not have bad periods.

Heavy periods affect many women. However it is difficult to be sure what people mean by heavy periods. Heaviness of periods is very subjective. As with many other bodily functions, that which is considered perfectly normal by some, might be thought extremely abnormal by others. to tell you the truth, I have never experience what you're going through.

When you are losing excessive amounts of blood, you may keep passing large clots (like liver) and you may need to change sanitary towels or tampons very frequently. Women vary in how long it is from the start of one period to the next. In some it is less than a month and others it is longer. Some have an irregular pattern. The actual length of the period varies, too, and may be from three to seven days. In menorrhagia, some women have very prolonged blood loss, with only days before the next episode.

Many times there is no particular cause to be found. Sometimes a structural irritation in the womb is to blame, such as a quite common condition where there are localized areas of overgrowth of the muscle wall of the womb (fibroids or fibromyomas), and when there is a coil (or Intra Uterine Device) in the womb.

Heavy periods are more common after sterilization, and happen more in women who are overweight, and also with certain hormonal upsets.

So, I think you'd better check with your gynae.

Okay hun. Yes, this can be normal and it pretty much sucks! I would suggest doubling up on your pads before bed(wearing two) and putting down a towel! I am a nurse and a blood clot is a large blob that can come out when you are on your period! It can look black or red! If you ever have one that is bigger than a half dollar, you need to see a doctor or tell your mom okay. Good Luck, it will be fine. Eat well and drink lots of fluids when bleeding that heavy!

Light to heavy or vise versa. Everything is pretty normal in periods. The only things you need to be wary off is if you bleed for like over 2wks or something or if your periods become very erratic in how often they come, then you can discuss it with your GP. Because it is only your second one, your body will adjust sooner or later and you will get to know what days you will be heavier. Usually you go light as its coming, then heavy then light as its starting to stop. Blood clots in your period are little chunks of blood and it's normal. Your period can also change colour to like brownish at the end of it. It is all normal.

It is normal. When it first comes on, it is light then for me also, all hell breaks loose. I usually wear a tampon and a pad when I sleep or I will have accidents too. I have blood clots the second and third days, and I usually last six to seven, the best day is my sixth day. If your parents will agree, birth control will lighten it and shorten it.

Yeah it could be normal for you. You see, every girl is different. Like for me, the first day is normal, next day really heavy, the next day normal, the next day normal, then the rest light.
So, yes it is normal. I have had my period for over a year, and it still does this. So, don't worry, i'm sure it is just fine!

P.S. just make sure to wear a heavier pad (like you can but "overnight' pads) at night, so you wont make a mess : )

that is normal, at least for me. sometimes their heavy, and sometimes their not. if you soak though a pad every 2 hours, that's a little too heavy, and you need to see the doctor if it continues. over time, you will see that your peroids will level out. they will become more predictibe, and the flow will level out. the little sticky spots are clots, when you get older, you will see less and less of it.
