Bus person is the person who cleans up all the tables. Like, picking up the dishes and bringing them back to the dishwasher and what not. Some places even have them making drinks and helping in the dishroom.
A runner is someone who prepares all the orders. Not that they cook them, they basically take the food from the kitchen and sort the plates out by table (or order if youre talking fast food) This helps the servers get the food out quicker.

every restaurant is different. a bus person "buses" tables. they clear dirty plates, used silverware, and empty glasses. in some restaurants, they serve bread and water. a runner takes food from the kitchen and brings it to the tables. there are other jobs with other names that sometimes gets heaped in with the job of a runner, such as expediter, who garnishes the dishes as they come out of the kitchen. sometimes, a runner could take on the responsibilities of a captain, who "fires", or lets the kitchen know when to start making the second and third course. all of these jobs can be given to one or two or five people and they could all have different names, but in general a buser buses and a runner runs food.

A bus person is also known as server's assistant. They will bring water, bread to table. Help in the removal of the diners plates. They also do coffee service in some restaurants.Plus they reset table for the next guest.
A runner (or food expediter),is just that, he runs the food to the tables. It's their responsibilities to ensure proper silver is down for each food course, and to make sure that food gets to proper guest.
Keep in mind when you tip your waiter, a percentage of their tips are also going to the bus and runner, and bartender( tipping out about 30% )So don't be cheap.

A bus person is one who clears off the tables and cleans the table tops when the customers are finished eating. They take the dishes to be washed (sometimes you have to wash the dishes too) and keep the Waitress station stocked with fresh clean dishes.
AND sometimes you have to clean the restrooms. The amount of duties named above might be different from one job to another but thats essentially what a Bus Person is.
As for a runner? I never heard that expression used before in the restaurants.

A bus person is someone who goes around to the empty tables with a large plastic bus pan, and collects the dirty dishes from the tables and takes them to the dishwasher. Runner, I don't no, guess it is the person who cleans up spills, and floor messes.

A bus person is the kid who cleans the table and resets it. A runner is the one who brings your food. (God knows you barely see your server anymore, it's more like 6 different people so your tip will get split amongst them.)
