If they were not well liked, or after a battle, the Indians would torture them, mutilate the bodies, and turn the women on the bodies, stripping them of everything they may have.

To be captured by the Indians is not a pleasant thing to say the least.

There were a few common things.
1. Would use them as hostages
2. Would kill them on the spot
3. Would hold them as prisoners indefinately
4. Would execute all but the ones that were useful

Of course, this was after they looted them, tied them up and made sure they were no longer armed.

Excuse me,but scalping was a white man thing.The whites taught the indians how to do that. Imagine someone was told to stay off your land and still they came. Most soldiers were tortured,even killed. Very few ever made it back alive.

they took them to camp xray, gave them meals that where for white people, made shire they could go to church on Sundays, gave them nice orange overalls, and then when all the fuss Had died down let them all go home with a big fat bag of gold. Sound familiar?
