i am using windows 98, how can i remove shortcut in my desktop

The others were right in their answers, but if it is really bothering you go to Add/Remove Programs, and remove the program associated with it, and remove the program. Re-install the program and choose DO NOT put shortcut on Desktop. A shotrcut is no problem unless you do not want others to see it.

You have several answers to your question so you can get rid of the shortcuts you don't want. If there are shortcuts you want to keep but don't use them very often, you might want to make a shortcut folder. To do this, right click an open space on your screen, choose "new", left click "folder". A folder should appear on the screen.Name it and drag and drop any shortcut you want to put into the folder. It will get rid of a lot of clutter on your desk top and you will be able to access the shortcuts any time you want to...Good Luck...

right click the shortcut then delete.

follow these instructions
1. clik on the short cut want to delte
2. press delete button
clik on yes whn confirm to deltion
4. double click on recycle bin
5. click on short cut reentely deleted
press delete button
click on yes when asked for delte confirmation
