You will know if you have a yeast infection b/c you will be very itchy and the discharge will look clumpy, like cottage cheese. Since it sounds like this is your first time having one, I would get diagnosed by the doctor just to make sure..some other infections can mimic this...when you have been diagnosed and know what it looks and feels like, if it ever happens again then you can self-medicate with an over the counter anti-yeast medication. Ask your doctor.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

When in doubt, go see your doctor. An Anti-Fungal like Monistat will clear it up. Oral Diflucan gets rid of it in a couple of days. A yeast infection will be itchy and you will have a cottage cheese looking discharge. Don't try and diagnose yourself, see your doc.
