After 2 years, we finally got a positive test! (5 actually). I go to my doctor to confirm on Monday.
My question is, I know how when you conceive you are already considered two weeks pregnant. So according to my last period, I am 6 1/2 wks pregnant. Now when I look online and it shows you what babies look like @ 6 1/2 wks is that what I would be now, or is the fetus a 4 1/2 wk size?
Does that make sense? I guess I am just way too excited and want to know whats goin on!

If you are 6 1/2 weeks, your baby is technically only 4 1/2 weeks old. All of the pregnancy sites I've been to that show pictures or sketches of babies in development are listed by week in pregnancy, not age of the fetus. So a picture of a baby at 6 1/2 weeks would be 6 1/2 weeks according to the pregnancy per LMP.
Congrats.

As most everyone else said, the 6 1/2 week picture should be correct.

A good book to get is "Your Pregnancy Week by Week." It will show you the baby each week and tell you what is going on with you and the baby. I look forward to reading it each week. At the beginning of each chapter it also states the number of weeks since LMP and in fetal age (so for 6 weeks it also says "4 weeks fetal age"). It makes it a lot easier to follow along.

Congrats on your little one!

Congratulations! I am happy for you honey and totally understand what you are asking!
You should be looking at the 6 1/2 week pictures. That is how far along you will be in any books or anything that you look at. I know that you are actually only 4 1/2 weeks along but there will always be that two week difference.
Go to www.babycenter.com they have the BEST program for pregnant mothers. You can put in your due date and it will track your pregnancy with neat pictures and everything. It is really great.
Good luck and many blessings

I think techinically the baby is of a 2 1/2 week size. There is alway a 4 week difference. If you are 24 weeks pregnant it is considered viable because you are considered 5 months along, not 6 for some reason. I forgot how they work out all the math

You ARE too excited. Settle down and enjoy the ride. It has been over 30 years since my wife was this wound up.

And by the way, being pregnant is an absolute. It is like being a virgin or being dead. You either are or you aren't. There are no degrees of pregnancy. Come on now, smile. That was a joke...

Congratulations. This is one kid that is going to be spoiled by parents. There will be absolutely no need for Grandparents. I love ruining the grand kids and then giving them back. Serves my kids right.

The 6 1/2 one because it goes by LMP. When you are one week pregnant you haven't even ovulated yet,

If you don't know why answer?

hmmm.. your duration of pregnancy ic calculated from ur lmp(last period known), so if u see pics sayin 'fetus in 3rd month of pregnancy'.. its 3 mnths from lmp but if they say its '3 mnths old fetus'.. then its from date of conception.. which will be around 3 and a half mnths from lmp.. i hope tht answers it
