high fashion models arnt supposed to represent a sexual beauty, they are tall and thin because we think of those proportions as glamourous chic etc. its also out of tradition. all models look much the same on the catwalk because the designer wants you to notice his clothes and not the model.

Well my children are involved in modeling.. My son is twenty years old and 6'3" and perfect body shape... he is classified as a runway model. He fits the model mold perfectly.
My daughter is 16 and only 5'7" and size 2.. and excellent figure.. but she is classified as too short. So she can only do print modeling.
There is a reason... The model... is just the model... but the real reason for models... is to model clothing.. so the clothes have to look good.. it is all about selling the clothes. And the honest truth is that clothes look better on a taller person than short.
I am only 5'2" and I can admit this.. My children's father is 6'2"
I see this everyday.. Modeling is not to fit into someones dream.. it is a job to sell clothes..
You need to find a job that you are meant for.. you will only be frustrated if you don't. And you will be successful in your own right.

hey, I know some of this cause im a teen model. Im not that tall, and im the shortest one for the stuff i moddle for. They designers that make our clothes always make them long and make them in small sizes. The owner of our modeling doesnt want to ask the designers to make any thing shorter cause they are doing a great job any ususally have no time to play around with shorter stuff. But yea it is kinda odd that they dont have any shorter girls or anything like that.

They choose girls like this because of the clothes availible and when you are taller your weight spreads so it looks like they're 115lbs. There is not as many tall girls as average. Also I'm a girl who is tall for my age and can like an outcast sometimes thus when people tell me I'm structure to be a model it is an esteam boost.

I think there is a point in that, but I just dont see very small pretty model doing the catwalk. I think it is the public influence that all pretty model has to fit the standard of tall and skinny.

Yes, i think the models should be more diverse, but the tall, anorexic ones are chosen because the clothes look more attractive on them.
Its the unpleasant reality of the modeling industry. The models are chosen for their ability to sell the clothes.

I totally agree, most American women are not 6' tall and 100 pounds. I think I recently heard the average women is a size 14. In my opinion tht is why there are so many eating disorders, the beauty industry says what we have to look like. It's very sad. There is beauty in all shapes and sizes. Good question!

tall because I guess the clothes look better on a long statuesque frame... I agree with the tall to a certain extent..
the super skinny part I don't agree on... cuz they're a lot of tall girls... but not every1 is a size0 u kno....
the want them skinny because fitting clothes are mostly small sizes and designers don't want to be bothered by some1 who doesn't fit into them

I agree with you lady. in fact, this kind of mentality about models is slowly changing today. models long time ago use to be a bit chubby and normal average persons but such concept had change, now it is gaining ground again. thanks to problems with diet and deaths in the world of models. some countries really had average models though in most popular modelling world milan and paris such kinds are still very far from reality. blame it on the ancient concept of beauty my dear.

No, actually, now some modeling companes need you do be a certain weight, because they don't want people thinking they have to be skinny to be pretty.
