In the movie "I am Sam", the director chose Starbucks as the location in the opening scene as well as Sam's first job and Pizza Hut as Sam's next job after he quitted. Why do you think they chose Starbucks and Pizza Hut but not some other locations and restaurants? Plz help!

Most likely the reason the director did this is because Pizza Hut and Starbucks probably gave sponsorship for the movie. If you look at the end credits in the movie, you should see Special thanks to Pizza Hut and Starbucks. These companies have to pay a fee to have their names put into movies, just like commercials it's paid advertisement. Every movie that is high budget will have this, sometimes it may just be a little harder to pick up, look at all of the cars in a movie sometime, if they are primarily ford or Chevy, then that company is paying a fee so that they can advertise their product.

Hope this helps.

Most likely, Starbucks and Pizza Hut were the most willing to have their businesses used the movie. Or perhaps they had the lowest cost bid of other restaurants. Businesses and products compete for this because being in a movie is good advertising (remember "ET" and Reese's Pieces?) Another reason could be the location of where the movie was shot. These restaurants may have just been the most convenient.

Starbuck and Pizza Hut gave them the most money for Product Placement.

I think that it is the writer and not the director who chooses where a character will work. It's as good as any other place, and both Pizza Hut and Starbucks are well known to most viewers.

Thats an interesting question................ Maybe because the director likes starbucks and pizza hut? While we are on the subjuct I have always been really baffled by why he chose to shoot scene 26 on a cloudy day????????? Good job I don't worry about important things innit?!

Potentially product placement (I mean, both could have paid money to be in the film as advertising), but it could be the kind of place that would hire Sam.

Also, as national chains, their reputation is well-known

Quite simple, MONEY

Companies pay to have their stores/products featured in movies these days.
