If i open 2 or 3 windows of Mozilla Firefox (or Internet Explorer) my computer slows down dramatically. At CPU usage the rate is almost always 100%. This does not happen with other programs. I tried reinstalling Mozilla, disk cleanup, installed an antivirus and scanned and deleted whatever it found wrong and also deleted all cookies and other temporary files that the explorer might store. The problem still persists. After running for about 1 min (with 2 or more windows of Mozilla) the task manager shows it to be "Not responding". Any ideas?

OK one more thing i haven't mentioned. wheni said i installed antivirus i meant "spybot search and destroy" (and it did find and remove stuff like spywear and trojan) . I have 1G RAM of memory. And even if i open ONLY Mozilla (no other programs running) this happens. (and btw is started happening just about 3 weeks ago - all was fine before)

I normally open 2-4 windows of firefox browser at one go. I dont have the problem that you have.

When my browser is abnormally slow, i check for viruses and spyware and it comes to no surprize that there is spyware infecting my computer.

You may also want to check you memory or if you are running too many programs in the background.

Maybe the antivirus you installed is a computer hog.. (Norton or McAfee) try AVG or AVAST... quite easy on the system.

How many resident programs
show up in your TaskBar ?
Delete all except Firewall &antivirus program.
This will reduce CPU usage.
Try the option Open in new tab/ instead of new window .
Para two : In Fire Fox Use the option View Page in IETab
( tools/adds-on/ extensions Ie Tab )
Also Use Adblock Plus
Para three : Download from www.iobit.com free
Advanced WindowsCareV2 Personal pgm.

One thing in particular struck me as I read your question.
"installed an anti-virus" This implies that you have been surfing w/o A/V protection.
As such my first thought is that you ARE infected, virus, spyware, Trojan something.
It has been my experience, that in a "conflict" type of situation, the first best course of action is to "CLEAN" the computer.
AdAware SE (free download) and Spybot-Search and Destroy (free download)are both good (I run BOTH) and a good A/V, AVG and Avast are both free and reputable.

If you are running Windows XP, that shouldn't happen. If you are running Windows 98 SE or earlier, all bets are off.

You may consider adding more memory.
