What a young student should do to be called good by one & all? Should he be polite even when he is being pained beyond tolerance or should he limit his playtime even when good at it etc.etc.

Lets see. A good student. Hummm. A good student is a student, not necessarly a child, but anyone who is learning anything, at work, at school, at home, that is attentive, cares that he is learning something, displays motivation to learn that subject, shows respect to the instructor by being punctual and tuned-in, and feels the subject is important.

Grades do not make a good student. A student could be learning all he is taught or learning to the best of his ability, but may not do well at tests or be bored to death with daily work, so he does not turn it in. People can be taught how to be good students. "Poor behavior" does not mark a bad student. He could be bored with the subject matter, the subject may be uninteresting to him, or the instructor has failed to properly motivate the student.

In teaching, I like this saying:

True teachers do not lower their expectations to win the favor of their students. They develop their students to meet their expectations through constant mentoring and counseling.

Just my opinion.

I think a good student is one that submits to authority and does what they are asked without complaints. Does not cause distractions for others. Applies self at all tasks.

For me, a good student is the one who is doing GOOD in academics and in in his/her extra curricular activities. Not nececcesarily that he/she is the best in class, only in "GOOD" level. He knows what he/she is capable of and willing to norture it through the help of the teacher. A good student is willing to be molded by their teacers. They cannot be called to students if they don't want to learn.
