My brother & I are planning to throw a surprise party for our parents' 30th anniversary in April, for about 50 people. I think we already have a location (though suggestions would be welcome). Right now we're having trouble finding a place to do hors d'ouvres (finger food) at a reasonable price - we'd like to keep the food portion under $100 if possible. We are both living out-of-town so we're in the dark as to who does good party platters. We've checked out Schnucks & Dierbergs, but they seem a bit pricey.

Any suggestions? We're looking for regular food, like, fruit/cheese/crackers, mini sandwiches, spinach dip, chips/cookies, soda/juice to drink.

thanks!

p.s. We'd like the food budget to be around $100, if at all possible, but we have a separate budget for renting a place to hold the party, also about $100. So, if there is a way to cut a little off the location cost, we could add that to the food.

Try Syberg's, Chevy's, Culpepper's, or Growler's. They all do party platters. You could also check into places like Subway and Quizno's. They usually have sandwich platters for a reasonable price. Another great place is Roly Poly. They do all different kinds of tortilla wraps, and offer different party platters.

You didn't say where in St Louis.
Try Butlers Pantry or Favazza's. Check the listings.
The food you are doing seems to be DIY..which may be less expensive.
Little known secret..Ponderosa has great carry out chicken wings.
