There is so much talk in news about liberal left wingers and Evangelical conversatives, isn't anyone in the middle of the spectrum anymore? Is being in the middle just being indecisive and refusing to pick a side? And is possible to be a conservative Democrate or a liberal Republican?

I consider myself to be a moderate. It depends on the issue on which way I lean.

Middle of the road folks are everywhere. They are afraid to take a stance and they are blown back and forth by what ever rhetoric they happen to hear.

Have you ever heard of any great middle of the road types throughout history? Name me a great fence sitter.

I am conservative because I believe in individual accountability and individual responsibility. Most liberals believe that if you work hard, play by the rules, make good decisions and are successful that you somehow cheated and should be punished with higher taxes. On the other hand, if you are lazy, won't work, make bad decisions and don't conform to societies laws you should be rewarded with tax credits or other government programs.

I don't believe in the redistribution of wealth. This doesn't mean I don't think we should ignore those who cannot take care of themselves, but I do think that as Roosevelt said, the first rule of good citizenship is to not be a burden on the rest of society. Too many people are sponges, thinking that everybody else owes them a living.

Sure there are some conservative Democrats but they are few, and I think that there are numerous liberal Republicans.

Evangelical conservatives are a catch phrase that the media uses to make you associate conservatives with religion. Certainly many conservatives do get their values from a Christian upbringing but point out to me how that is bad. If everyone embraced Christian values wouldn't we be better off? There would be no murder, no rape, no theft, no assault, no abortion, and kids would be respectful to their parents and authority.

On the other hand liberals have tended to the "if it feels good, do it" philosophy and the result h as been that we have become an immoral nation with all the tragedy and sorry associated with undisciplined emotional behavior.

Everyone is always in the middle especially those who want to become part of the Washington Committee.

A politician starts out as a Liberal and rants and raves about how he is going to give you much and take away little.

Then, at voting time he tries to get the votes of both sides by pretending to be a nice guy who can see both ends.

After he is elected he becomes Conservative by making sure that he doesn't give away anything that he wants for himself.

They all follow this route and the people are continually sucked in by the fast talking Jojo.

Strange but most people follow the same route.

I think that there are conservative dems and liberal reps out there, but I'm a conservative republican. I don't think being in the middle isn't just being indecisive and refusing to pick a side, but instead, you agree with both sides on different subjects. Personally, I don't agree with Liberal Dems on any account, therefore, I'm a Conservative Rep.

I am a conservative, actually a libertarian, because I resent having my choices restricted, mandated and dictated by politicians. I believe that all people should have the right to live as they choose as long as they do not encroach on the lives of others through force of fraud.

There aren't as many conservative Democrats as there used to be on the national scene, but there are still a few in state legislatures. There are lots of liberal Republicans, particularly from Northeast and Northwest states.

"Liberals" generally believe that the government can and should take an active role to make the community or the country a better place for everyone. They are willing to use governmental power and resources to address social inequality and wrongs.

"Conservatives" are generally opposed to governmental action, even when the government can prevent human suffering (such as the aftermath of the Katrina hurricane).

In recent years, the terms have gotten rather confusing as many conservatives call themselves "social conservatives" who support a more humanitarian government. Also, while conservatives say they support fiscal responsibility and low taxes, they have actually supported a larger-than-ever federal deficit which will have to be paid for through higher taxes for all except the wealthy. They've spent over $1,000,000,000,000 in Iraq while claiming they oppose governmental spending.

Also, conservatives say they don't want the government to interfere with people's lives, but they support government spying on citizens, restrictions on people's sex lives (no homosexuality, no premarital sex), and the imposition of religious beliefs on all.

Liberals on the other hand support a balanced budget and lower governmental spending. They ask the government not to interfere with the decisions they make on such issues as health care (to abort or not to abort, to allow or not to allow someone to die, to use non-traditional medicine such as marijuana for certain diseases), reading what they like without censorship (books by Mark Twain or pornography), and freedom to communicate via the mails, telephone, and Internet.

There are plenty of people who do not identify themselves with one ideal or the other: moderates. Since they do not identify strongly with issues, they are seldom active in politics.

I'm in the middle and am an independent and here is why: when people are committed to being on either end of the spectrum, they stop listening to all sides, and listening is critical to fixing problems. Moreover, they take on an identity as if it is a religion and at every election, they look for the new Messiah that fits that identity.

Yes it is possible to be a Conservative Democrat. While a of what the left is saying about the current administration is right on the money there are some things I tend to agree with just not to the extreme of the Neo cons

There are no politicians that reflect what I wish for this country, and that is to become an honest American society again. Where is the politician who is willing to stick to our constitution, especially where our border control is concerned, and all the spending in Iraq, only to kill innocent bystanders and soldiers trying to do what it's country says to do. Politicians who see communist China for what it is, a country who wants to swallow us whole and own us, which is closer than we realize, we are at the mercy of to many countries. I want a President who will make America free and secure again. Our government can't run this country legally, what the hell makes them think thay can show another country how to run smoothly? The two things politicains have made a joke of in America is illegal border crossing and the wars we are in, will they fix either one, I doubt it, both are making a few people too much money. Pergatory, not right, middle, or left.

I would like to think I am in the middle (republican). However, there is too much wrong with the liberals that is shifting me to the conservative side. All the problems with the war,(the dems not supporting our troops), the illegal alien issue (wanting to give them unemployment of all things) and criminals getting more rights than their victims are beginning to ruin my way of thinking. I hope someone fixes this and soon.
