In February 1917 the Czar was removed from power and a provincial government was formed. In October the Bolshevik and Soviet workers party ousted the provincial government and the Russian Civil war was on. With the removal of the Czar a power vacuum was created, no one power had control of the situation and Russia being a very big country it took time for a new power contender to form. As the provincial government failed the various parties and groups contested for power and often fought amongst themselves as much as against each other.
It was not until the "Red" & "White" fractions emerged as a rivial political powers of any size that could muster enough support with the populace inorder to contend with the each other in that bloody struggle for power.

Because the White Army were anti-communist just like the Cuban American exiles and Vietnamese Americans here in the US. They were trying to get rid of the Lenin anid his commie army hordes. The Civil War took four years and had close to 1 million casualties on each side. The White Army lost and many of them along with Russian noblemen and aristocrats fled to Germany, Britain, USA, South America, and elsewhere.

After the fall of the Czar, the country was ripe for new rule and revolution. Democracy took power, then Lenin and the Reds(Communists) took them down after six months. Read "Ten Days That Shook The World".
