Hi can you please give me a bit of advice my cabinet can take either a sump filteration or canister whats the best and easiest to maintain advantages and disadvantages
the canister one i was thinking of is an Eheim 2327

Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I prefer a sump, but some say that they are too effective in breaking down ammonia and you get higher levels of nitrates.

Canisters are very good filters, but in my opinion require more care in keeping them working.

setting up marine tank for first time can be quite stressful,its knowing wants the best thing to do,you would be better to start with something simple to start and work your way up.plus it depends want fish you want to keep,(marine fish or invertebrates)i would buy a good book like question and answer manual of marine aquarium by nick dakin.its a good book for new comers hope this helps you good luck in your new hobby,

well the canister one you can clean, the other i believe works under the gravel then again you could install both

go to a aquarium store no petsmart or petco or walmart. Find and old guy with a big line of people and ask him. he should solve your question. They usually have a lot of experience.
