I am not a fan of Big Brother, I am not a fan of Gade Goody. I never saw the whole argument, only the edited highlights. I agree some nasty things were said by house mates. But I really cannot see why the comments made by individuals over an argument over a stock cube, made the world news. I dont understand if things were that bad, why Shilpa stayed. She is an intelligent woman and if she (the victim) can deal with it in a measured why, why can't the media etc ? SOmeone please help me understand !

The reaction to this stupid fight WAS over the top. Shilpa even said (later on) that Jade wasn't a racist. I seriously think that Shilpa herself was arrogant and obnoxious. Nobody told her to represent her country. And she wasnt. She was there just for the career lift and for fame. Probably (dont think so ) but also the money. So she didnt WANT to quit. So the question is : If she herself isnt that bothered, to actually LEAVE the house, then why is everyone making such an issue out of it? The answer is plain. It's because Shilpa is from another country. And it hurts both countries to know that such things are being said about one another. Thats why its such an issue. These arguments happen everywhere, but its risen because Shilpa's a superstar in India. I have to say that its also risen because people believe that losers like Jade have no right to abuse superstars. I mean, the mentality towards a superstar and a person from another country changes instantly. Thus, its being said over the top.
So the factors are:
1) Shilpa being from another country
2)Shilpa being a superstar
3)Jade NOT being a superstar
4)Shilpa being referred to as "Pak*" ( i think it is a very bad thing to have been said). Indians have thus taken it to the heart.
5)Shilpa crying and bawling

Jade was NOT racist in the slightest and to be honest if I were in the position Jade was in I would have told Shilpa to stop acting like a little PAKI even though she is Indian, It's the same as telling a Mackam to stop acting like a Jordie. It's not Racist its just annoying. Jade was called white trash and Fat now if that's not double standards I don't know what is. In my England AKA God's Country we have what is called Freedom of Speech. I can call anyone anything i want and no-one is able to stop me believing what i believe and that is my right as a human the same as every other human. I am not racist I have shagged a Paki but it's just a word shortened down from Pakistani for a person from Pakistan. If someone calls me a BRIT will i get offended they didn't call me a British person and labeled me BRIT. No it would not annoy me in the slightest I am proud to be a BRIT and CHANNEL 4 WANT TO SAVE FACE AND BB IS NOW FIXED SHILPA WILL WIN 4 NO REASON.

I agree, blown out of all proportion. I don't think she's a racist but I do think she is a bully. She knew she has Jo and Danielle on side and deliberately picked on Shilpa. I think her manner was aggressive, BB has pulled up previous contestants for far less aggressive behaviour than what Jade exhibited. But I think she never intended to be racist, the media ran away with this one and CH4 let them, probably to keep up the ratings

I agree with you. Shilpa first said she thought that Jade was a racist, then when asked about this she said no I don't think Jade is a racist after all. She started all this by saying how she thought that Jade had been a racist. Everyone there is bullying everyone else but I dont' think racist remarks were made at all.

I agree with you. It is a shame that over news items in which people were being killed or supressed was totally over looked. The only good thing to come out of this for me is that I am cured of my Big Brother habit for good. Can't believe how much time I have wasted over the years watching it

I wouldn't be surprised if Channel 4 were responsible for the hype to further interest in this awful programme.
They were certainly guilty of cynical manipulation of both 'guest' and audience, when they set this scenario up in the first place.
You can bet someone, somewhere, has made some serious money over this fiasco.

I dont think Jade was being Racist BUT i don think she was being a bully but i do believe the Media made it in to something bigger than it needed to be!!
I like Jade and think this has understandable done her no favors but she will pull herself out of it.................

it was completely over the top, as if theres nothing more important to be the front page of all the papers and the top story on the news it was ridiculous!
