No matter where you live, It's always a good idea to let your car run for a little while to get the oil flowing before you take off. MOST especially in the cold weather as it will significantly increase the longevity of the engine.

All cars need to warm up..... to get the oil to flow to all moving parts. Never just start your car in the cold and take off, this is very bad for the engine.

If its cold out its a good idea to warm it up. Even as much as a minute or two is much better than just start and go. If you go more than 5 or 10 minutes is just wasting gas. Its also a good idea to leave it run if your just running into the gas station for a pack of gum or something, rather than starting and stopping.
