yes, quality bowler like Mcgrath or pollock is missing, but pace bowlers are there..vrv singh can bowl at 145km/hr and i have seen Munaf bowling at 145km's as well, sreesanth and agarkar bowls at decent pace...i think quality is missing.

Um... i'm not so sure. India's bowlers aren't that good but I do think that on his good days, Zaheer Khan can be considered a genuine pace bowler. If you're talking about velocity, India has nobody. But if you're considering a good medium pacer like McGrath, Khan could be a good candidate. Just my opinion. But besides him, India has nobody on the bowling end except maybe a few spinners and a lot of ordinary pacers.

It is very difficult to develop a player under Dravid's captaincy, See for these periods of captaincy there was no raise of any new player in India team, it still stands with the players like Pathan, Sreesanth, Raina, Munaf all properly treated during Ganguly's time...
Also watch the failures in ODI of Pathan, Sreesanth, Munaf, one of the main reason is that unlike batsmen the bowlers have not been given at least 3 matches continuously to prove their ability, see Sreesanth has been omitted after almost all 1-2 appearances continously, how a bowler can bowl confidently in this circumstances.......
so India can develop a bowler at the range of McGrath or similar, first of all we should have a better captain who really knows how to lead a team & also the pulse of players...
Let us hope for it after this world cup.......

I also think that India lack a genuine pace bowler like McGrath or Shaun Pollock...But India has quality pacers like Zaheer Khan , Ajit Agarkar,S Sreesanth,Irfan Pathan etc....Zaheer Khan and Ajit Agarkar are partnership breakers and are abled to take wickets whenever the team needs one....S Sreesanth is a person who can bowl in constant length and trouble the batsman...We have seen the real quality of this player during the last South African tour.....He has a lot more to improve and I am sure that he will be the very genuine pace bowler which India lacked....Irfan Pathan is another player who can give the answer to your question.....I think that he is the greatest swing bowler India have ever seen....His reverse swing bowling has frightened and defeated the worlds best batsmans....He got a hat-trick in Pakistan with his reverse swing bowling.....This shows the real class of this player.......

of course you are right. I know a lot of people mentioned that Sree santh is a very good bowler. Indeed, he is . However, he is no where near mcgrath, or shawn pollock. Right now Agarker, zaheer seems pretty good but not that great. I think Sree Santh will turn into a good bowler if he works on his economy rate since he is capable of hitting the deck pretty often.

i agree with you.i do recommend a new set of pace bowlers should be introduced to the side along with a coach for training.i do have faith in chappel but he hasn't helped our bowlers quite well.
