If they do a good, yes they should.

Everyone appreciates recognition, or a pat on the back. Try it once and the next time they come, they'll do an even better job I would bet.

This is omission training. You rewarded them for a desired res ponce or action. They will continue this in anticipation of another reward. This doesn't mean reward them every time. Just every now and again.

If rewarded every time, the quality will fall because they know it doesn't really matter, they get personally rewarded regardless.

I don't think so as they are under contract to you to do this work but I think a generous Xmas gift could be in order if they did a good job of your lawn or at the end of the season if you don't see them for Xmas, that way they probably will come back next year.

That is a nice jesture, but I don't think so because 9 out of 10 times they charge way to much. I privately landscape I don't charge near what I should but it is always nice when they pay extra.

Tips no. Bonuses for a job well done - yes. While bonuses are purely out of generosity - there is no set code for the amount of a bonus for contract workers.

if that lawn tech is really good, a tip is in order once in a while... I'm a landscape horticulturist, and although I try to do my best job where ever I'm working, the ones who've tipped me do get extra attention.. it just makes you feel so appreciated... it's not about the money.. it's about the gesture of being appreciated

tiping is optional but can be done especially if you want them to do something extra that they would not normally do. You get more with honey than with vinegar...as the saying goes
