Back in the 1930's the government decided it needed to manage our retirement plan and named it social security. For 30years now they have dipped into my paycheck and taken money for my retirement. Now they are telling me that there is a chance that I may never see any of it. Do we really want a government that has so mismanaged and botched our retirement plan to manage our healthcare?

Matt that is surprising in that the Baby Boomers paid Social Security their entire working lives, Obviously other people other than Bush raided the fund or the money would have been there to begin with. And you actually think the politicians would do any different with any excess Health Care premiums they wouldn't save it for the next year they would filter into their pet pork barrel projects and then say we have to raise the premiums because the costs were more this year than last. Nothing has ever been run more efficiently or cheaper by the government than by private enterprise. Do you really trust your government to do what is right?

Yup! we have had 70 years to get it right and we keep voting the same bunch of crooks or equivalent crooks into office. During this time we have also spent the majority of our treasure getting ready for or fighting wars with people or to save people we previously never heard of, had we spent the same money on medical care and education, everybody in the world would by now be living to 100 and driving a Cadillac. So keep voting the party line and pray you die before your savings do...

The Clinton Administration lined up sufficient government funds to pay the social security pension for the baby boom generation now reaching retirement age
BUT then the Bush adminstration used this pool to raid for covering the tax cuts which the wealthier you are the more you get back in tax rebate.
National health would be slightly different
the tax paid now this year pays the service cost for this year not for some future decade it is notionally set aside for!

Lets put it this way something has to be done for those that don't have health insurance. I am so offended that my husband can't get on medicade because he is not a woman or have a child. That a cop out of the government. If a man needs medicade for health he should be able to get it.

I want a plan that works, not a plan that they think works. I think we should take a serious look at the way other countries that have national health plans work... if they work. THEN use that knowledge to build our own. Either that or force the greedy insurance industry to lower rates for the privilege to get sick and not pay through the wazoo.

people need only look at nations that already have national health care to see its a bad idea.you spend months on a waiting list to get mediocre care, canadians with money come to the us to bypass the headache.keep govt out of it,they have not managed anything properly since kennedy.think about iraq billions just disappear and these are the people you want to control healthcare.no one should support it.

When I had the occasion to go to the Social Security people, in a conversation with them they said there is no problem with the system and that it is only political bull crap to make the other guy look bad. My mom always told me, "Never believe anything you hear and only half of what you see".
Heed her warning!

That is socialized medicine and it would be a costly failure just as it has been in the UK. We have the best health care system in the world.
