I've tried a plunger and it didn't help. Could it be the flapper going down to soon. Its a Crane toilet and its only a couple of months old. When I hold the handle down it works fine every time.

Probably the chain connecting the flapper to the handle is too long, too much slack. The flapper doesn't open far enough to stay open.

Sounds like it is the flapper, check the length of chain or simply put a sign to hold handle down for a few seconds to flush. Call the place where you purchased it and see if they have a solution sometime when you start playing around with this you cause other problems.

Right in the front of the toilet bowl there is a water hole through wich there is a strong stream when flushed. Many times a small plastic disk about the size of a quarter is left in at the factory. These should be removed before installation. This disk floats around in there and eventualy blocks the water flow. Watch carefuly for a reduced flow while continualy flushing the toilet. Fish out the disk with a pair of tweezers or forceps. This is a very common problem i have dealt with it myself on several occasions.

Usally that is a flapper problem. More to the point, either the line from the handle to the flapper is not adjusted properly or your flapper has a leak allowing water to make it heavier and closing faster.

sounds like you need the chain adjusted down at the plunger(rubber boot) that opens to release the water
