I have a Linksys WRT54G router downstairs, problem is sometimes signal is from good to very low upstairs. Any idea on what device i should buy to boost the signal upstairs? Thanks in advance.

You could buy a signal booster, also from Linksys for about $30 on sale.

First, you should always centrally locate your router within you home to ensure the best signal throughout. If you cannot do this, they (linksys) sells boosting antennas. They are a bit pricey (40 bucks), but they boost the range (sometimes almost doubling the range)

an extender antenna is a good choice here. there are several on the market, but Micro-Center has the best selection. another way would be to upgrade the type of router you use, a super G or pre N are able to carry the signal further

Yep a signal booster or you can upgrade the antennas.
