Keep handling your hamster, it'll get used to you. There's a fairly short window for getting your hamster used to you, and if you miss it, it'll never become tame. Feed it once a day, give it fresh water daily too. Don't feed it cheese, they can't digest it. They love a slice of apple, baby corn or carrot to chew on, just make sure you remove any it doesn't eat the following day.

LEAVE THE HAMSTER ALONE 4 ABOUT A WEEK SO IT CAN GET USE TO THE NEW CAGE. And if it nipped at u u might have had something on your hands and plz wash them before handeling your hamster. Also refil the food bowl once -twice a day. But remove the old food every day because it might rot.
Good Luck

It's natural to be afraid, I was too. When you start out holding him, wear strong gloves. Also, when he has been in your hand for a while, and hasn't bitten you, give him a treat. The key is not being afraid. When your afraid, he thinks there's another reason to be, and will probably bite. So, when you have no more fear, you can hold him without the gloves.

When you feed your hamster you should know they are more like cats when it comes to eating. They will eat what they want and save the rest for later. I feed my hamster every other day, filling her bowl 3/4 of the way full. Good luck with your new hammie!!!

Hi, don't be afraid to try to hold it everyday. Even if it nips you now it will get used to your hand soon (maybe a couple more weeks). If you don't want to hold it just put your hand next to it so it gets used to your scent.

Hamsters horde their food (they stuff their cheeks and then put hide the "horde" under their litter. Use cedar litter instead of news paper (it gives them a place to hide their horde).

You can keep food in their cage all the time. They generally do not overeat. Try giving it a balanced diet. In addition the food from the petstore also put in a carrot or some lettuce once a week. Don't forget they need plenty of water.

Keep the cage away from drafts as hamsters are prone to catching "colds". They also like it to be warm (but not too warm).

They also like the famous "hamster wheel" so get one of those if you don't already have one.

It shgould only need food once a day. Hamsters like to hoard their food so if the dish is emptied frequently, it will probably be storing the food in its bed, allow it to do this, its normal.
In regard to holding it, try just feeding it from your hand while its still in its cage for a few days, it will gradually learn to trust you. When its eating from your hand happily, slowly reach over and stroke it. It will soon learn that there is nothing to fear and allow you to pik it up and hold it.
Hamsters like to move when you are holding them so let it run between your hands rather than holding it still.
Good luck.

you need to get over being scared i know it's hard cause my friend could not look after her hamster so i sort of adopted it. feed it once a day and change it's water too. small pieces of veg too like carrot but not to often only like once a week. mine liked apple too. you can get these sticks of like fruit and cereal mixed together with like honey, any pet store should have lots of flavors. these are great for chewing on otherwise it will probably chew the bars. a wheel can relieve boredom too. i had a hamster ball it used to whizz around the room. great fun the kids loved watching it. you can also get hamster chocolate, but not very often it'll tell ya on the packet. keep it regularly cleaned out. and very importantly make sure the wheel doesn't squeak cause this will really do ya head in!!!!!

Well, just leave a bowl of food in the cage and refill as needed. Don't be afraid to handle it, and if u don't handle it, you'll never be able to hold it. Maybe just pick it up 4 a few moments, then put it back and give it a treat. Good luck! :-)

Just leave a bowl of the hamster food in there and refill as necessary. You could give it a treat once a day like a piece of fruit or veg, or a rusk.
