Would normally cave in completely but trying hard not to since on a diet and actually coming on quite well with it so not wanting to fall off the wagon! However, PMT is a the deomon that could be my demise. Any sensible remedies to overcome the cravings? I've tried drinking a glass of water for every time I'd normally have something to eat (ie, chocolate or something sugary!) but is there anything that might help get things re-balanced and stop the cravings?
Thank you!

Unfortunately I am a bit of an all or nothing person and I know if I allow myself a wee bit of something it would just lead on to a wee bit more!
Thanks to you all for your kind words and advice.

Try having a cup of green tea....the enzymes in the tea will help control the cravings better than water. When they get intense try going for a walk or work on a hobby to take your mind of them. Chewing sugarless gum has helped me in the past

i don't think you should ignore the cravings, if you're watching your weight, maybe you could just allow yourself a treat or 2 at this time of your cycle meanwhile being sensible the rest of your cycle when you don't have the same cravings. diets don't really work if they're full of guilt and mental rules and the whole yo yo thing so sensibly eating for most of the time and having the odd bit of chocolate for that week will probably be better for you than you struggling to fill the cravings with water then feeling guilty for not doing it! your body needs sugar and magnesium at this time (both of which chcolate contain) so you probably won't be able to fully stop the cravings, but you can be sensible about them. I lost a lot of weight myself after adopting this tactic and after i stopped being so hard and critical of myself about food. good luck

I admire you for wanting to staunchly stick to your diet. I too am watching my weight but sometimes Aunt Flo is powerful. I don't see a problem with you giving in to your cravings if it's only once or twice and in small quantities. For example, a bite-sized candy bar is not going to destroy your diet. I think it's actually been proven that chocolate is good for us during that time of the month. I think moderation is key. Good luck!

I get this too. terrible thing. but instead eating chocolate i switched to grapes and carrots. I can't stop eating but at least I don't feel bad about it anymore.
