I was watching a news investigation show on people who form relationships with prisoners. Was wondering if anyone has used these internet sites and communicated with prisoners for friendship?

I was just curious people!

I wouldn't do it anyways and I am married and quite happy! I just do feel bad for a lot of lonely people I am sure are in there.

Please don't do this - don't contact prisoners. I worked in the corrections system for 3 years and I saw this happening a lot. I'll speak of women contacting incarcerated males because that was the situation of my employment. However, the reverse situation applies too.

Lonely women contacting inmates is a bad situation. The women are lonely and vulnerable. The inmate has 24 hours per day think and craft his response to the woman to get what he wants. Then the woman starts sending him money and working on the "outside" to help with his legal appeal of his case. In the meantime, the woman doesn't understand that the inmate is corresponding with many who are cooperating just like herself. The inmate gets what he's after and the woman gets a one-sided relationship with an illusion that the inmate really cares about her.

Don't forget that the inmate is incarcerated because he was found guilty of a crime and they don't always tell the truth about the nature of their crimes.

If you are considering this as a method to find a friend, please consider another avenue. I would recommend civic clubs, singles clubs, church groups, community action, classes at the community college, etc.
