You know the one - you put the chip packet in the oven & it goes hard and shrinks. You can punch a hole & use it for a key ring, etc. Has anyone tried it in the microwave?

Althought he microwave will melt plastic. I do not think it can reach the necessary temp to make a shrinky dink work.

If you try you may want to put a glass of water in with it, so the water can increase the temp in the microwave, but you could be risking things too.

Microwaves and ovens work in completely different ways. You need to put in the oven for it to work properly. And as someone else said, most chip bags have a foil lining these days. Foil = Microwave = Disaster/Potential fire

i think it is worth a shot i remember doing something like tht when i was about 9 (i am 11 now) but i don't think you should do the whole packet at one time if at all possible wait to see the results of the first try.

wouldn't do it as most chip packs have some sort of foil liner. Also the temp may not get high enough.
