I would think that they would have to run it just in case people showed up late. The thearters are on a schedule, so they couldn't wait to start a movie when someone showed up because it would screw up the schedule.

I'm not sure if this is the case in all theaters, but my boyfriend and I showed up 5 minutes before the start of a movie. We were apparently the only ones to buy tickets to it, and the ticket sellers radioed up to the booth to put the movie in the projector. So my answer would be no, they don't run a movie if no one's there to see it.

I believe they do. I was once the only person in the cinema and came in while the previews were playing. It was kind of fun being the only one watching the movie!

Hmmmmm....you'd have to sneak in to see, because if you bought a ticket you would be the one they are running the movie for!

I also agree with azureskybird, they have to start the movie just in case someone shows up a litttle late.
