we have two laptops and a shared connection. do we have to have a network so we both can get the internet?Is it nescessary to run a net work?

No, you could buy a wired or wireless router (D Link) thereby allowing you to share internet. I did this for our computers and it works great.

If you have dialup (makes phone sounds when you connect), you can not share the connection.

The easiest route is to get a wireless router and get a wireless card for your laptops (it may be built in, check), and one for any PCs you want to use. Then hook up the wireless router to the modem and all of your laptops (and PCs) will share the connection.

one is a notebopok with wireless antenna
amd we bought an antenna for the other pc =

all 3 can be online at once
