Go with Reliance Data Card. I am using it for over an year now and it offers decent speeds. Airtel uses GRPS technology so you wont be able to get more than 56 Kbps where as Reliance connects at 223 Kbps and you get around 128Kbps throughput.

Wifi in India is still something which has not fully flurished. I suggest buying any access point and remove the original antena and connect an Internal Omini Antena to the access point. This will inrease the Range a lot. Some brands of wireless access points which i have worked with and found good are LINKSYS, Dlink and SMC.

If you need any further clarification please get back to me.

Data card? Do you mean wireless PCI card? I use Netgear and find it quite good. You can buy a wireless router (which hooks to the telphone line) at arround US$ 100 and a PCI wireless card (put inside computers) at about $50.

Don't know any particulars for the work done in India as compared to the other country. May be the cost is different.
But when you install WIFI, there are different spec in 802.11b, 802.11g and super g. They diffe in transmission rate, b=11Mb/s, g=54Mb/s super g=108Mb/s. There is little differences between them. Because the boardband internet speed is likely to be limited to about 2Mb/s, so higher speed for the WIFI card and router doesn't make a difference, unless you use the setup extensively to pass data between computers rather than working a lot on the internet.
