I was reading the paper this morning and I was nearly in tears(of happiness) as I have been sufferring from hyperemesis for the past 5 weeks and although I was hosptialized, and given some meds, nothing has helped. Someone had written in on behalf of their daughter who is going through this and was told to try Nux Vom, a homeopathic remedy. I was just wondering if anyone had tried it and what their experiences were? Thanks so much in advance!

I don't know about Nux Vom but I had to let you know that ginger ale and ginger biscuits will help. They really will. However if you are still being very sick maybe you might need to be hospitalised again just for a check

Sorry to have to rain on your parade but there is scant data that this remedy works. Plus, wait for this: Nux Vom is recommended for: Over-indulgence in food and alcohol, itching piles, stuffy colds, vertigo, constipation, raw throat, Head cold, stuffy nose, tickling dry cough, hangover, heatburn, headache, hypersensitive to stimuli eg noise and Premenstrual tension. Anything that can work on that many ailments deserves a Nobel Prize. You also need to look at the active ingredients: Sucrose (core), lactose (coating). In other words? Sugar. Sorry, I just want to caution you to go with realistic expectations.

I was hospitalised with my two girls, my vomiting was very severe and I needed intravenous fluids.
This time (it's a boy though!!) I saw a wonderful homeopath who gave me symphoricarpus - she says it's more specific for pregnancy vomiting than nux vom - I feel a hundred times better.

I'd recommend seeing an experienced practitioner - mine really wasn't expensive and her treatments are cheaper and more effective that shop bought ones.

You have my sympathies - hang in there - good luck.

I have used nux vom for travel sickness, and wished I had known about it when I was pregnant. I also wish I had known about acupressure wrist bands, available from Boots' called Sea bands. They work for travel sickness (I am very travel sick) and are said to work for nausea in pregnancy and during chemotherapy. When I was pregnant, I had a longish commute every day and was sick every time. (Note: never, NEVER try to vomit into a head wind) and the only thing that helped even slightly was crystalised ginger.
Good luck.

I wished that I had known about it with my son. I had hyperemesis so bad that I had to be hospitalized four times in my second trimester alone.

I've heard that it works. I hope that you find some relief.
