I have the Stylus 82 with my windows XP, and they work just fine.

One thing you should know about Epson printers is that they are quite durable, and will, from time to time, do "funny" things you won't understand.

Watch when ink levels get too low. Using their ink will cost a fortune, so I've adapted my printer to the type of ink you can buy from the internet, at a fraction of what the manufacturer will charge. When installing the ink, follow the directions carefully, and when it rejects the ink, you need to accept their warning.

Otherwise, you will spend over $30.00 per ink cartridge, which doesn't last more than 6 months. Even if you don't use it much, it still won't last for some reason. Can get pretty expensive if you agree to all the terms that Epson wants you to.

I found that doing with the basics for my computer, and not going overboard, makes owning and using a computer reasonably affordable. Otherwise, you can waste money like a drunken sailor on a computer, because it becomes obsolete very quickly.

Good luck with your Epson Printer!

That is because Microsoft did not get the huge extortion fee to certify the Epson 880 driver.

You can run it, or grab a FREE http://pclinuxos.com and test it out as a LiveCD. Read the Install Help on the desktop, and install as a multi-boot choice!

I've no doubt the pop-up box told you that (having been set by the manufacturer!) so that you could go out and spend money unnecessarily on more soft/hardware. I have EXACTLY the set up you have described and it all works perfectly, although it's even easier if you have something on the laptop that needs printing, put it on a stick first and then just plug that into your PC for printing. Saves a lot of time with cables and plugs.

Sure, just go to the Epson website and download the latest driver for it and install it on Windows XP.
