I just bought a pack of twenty cigs from a vending machine, it contained 18!! On the pack there was a warning telling me that these cigs will make me die younger! AT those prices I'm not at all suprosed by that, however while in th UK I did fread about a guy I knew (not very well) he was a fitness fanatic, jogging about all all over the place, lifting big weights above his head etc etc. He never smoked, only had a couple of pints on Sunday lunch time, he was 25 years younger than me, he was run over and killed? Can I sue the cig makers for wrongful statement??

Absolutely class Idea. But I don't think that this is gonna work no lawyer will help you with that. i had a similar experience. I started smoking because the adds were telling me it makes me look older. and i was 16 and looked like 12 now I'm 31 and look like 20. I've got real problems with that at work nobody is taking me serious everybody things I'm a child. so I wanted to sew them for Wrongful statement. but again everybody was laughing.

If you want to get into a costly court case Go ahead! Or you could put your rhetoric aside and live a healthy life style. The choice is yours. All the best Nettie UK lass

The fitness guy did not pay attention to rules of the road concerning running but he did not die from being unfit. So you pays your money and you makes your choice.

No because it is not an untrue statement, all the warnings on cigarette packets are backed up by precise medical research which in many cases is decades old. You also seem to implying the 25 y.o. who died is a good reason not to take care of yourself. How silly and "wrongful" is that?

Yes, you can die young even if you are a fitness fanatic. But if you smoke, the risk of dieing is double.

they are always careful to state that it MAY cause all of these illnesses on the warnings . Dont know of anyone who has a smoking related illness wishing they had smoked more . your lungs are a machine for delivering oxygen to the body , and by smoking you are reducing their capacity to function properly

You can try it, but I doubt you would get anywhere. However, if you want to sue someone related to tobacco use, sue your government. They have been collecting taxes on your use of tobacco, thereby allowing you to buy their permission to use said tobacco. Through this, they are endorsing tobacco use and are thus as guilty as the tobacco companies who were heavily penalized by the U.S. government.
