I love all these fancy idea about what some people think they are - but they are obviously nothing more or less than weevils.

Sounds like cockroaches and they are difficult to get rid of. Get up during the night with a flash light and look in your cupboards and you probably will find how bad it really is. Best solution is an exterminator or if you can find a place there that sells Chinese chalk then wash out cupboards and make sure everything is sealed in plastic bags or bins put chalk all around back and front of cupboard then the bugs won't cross it and go somewhere else.
Good luck!

these bugs are accually from the flour itself.if u have an opened bag of flour for more that a month they breed in the flour,im not sure how they get there in the 1st place but they do,throw out the flour as quick as possible and make balls of condensed milk with a type of poisen roll it together and leave it the cupboards

Flour beetles. Not a serious threat, but get rid and keep your flour in sealed containers.

To those who think they're cockroaches...cockroaches are between 1" and 2" long (25mm and 50mm) . Nothing like the lady said, "1-2mm long"..(.i.e, 1/8th of an inch!!). If you don't know.........don't guess. Its confusing.

flour weevils - they eat not only flour, anything powdery or they can turn to powder, like rice, dried pasta, salt, stockcubes etc. They lay microscopic eggs, so throw EVERYTHING that they might have got into. Spray the shelves with anti-bacterial spray, leave for 20 seconds and wipe clean, then line the shelf with paper - I found a tray that fits exactly into the cupboard and put all my tins/jars/packets on that - it can easily be removed and washed every month.

These sound like "grain weevils" and are found in areas where some dried foods have been stored for some time.
Advice is that you get rid of all the dried food in that area and thoroughly clean out with disinfectant. All dishes and bowls should be thoroughly washed and if oven proof, placed in oven at 150 degrees for one hour.
Then make sure you place all your dried foods, flour, rice, lentils, barley etc. in tightly sealed containers.
Your local council Hygiene department would give you further advice.

flour mites.a friend of mine had these and done everything to get rid she finished up having to call the local council and they came and sprayed her cupboards and told her to allways keep her flour in an air tight container they also said it has nothing to do with how clean your cupboards are as she was so embarrassed but it cured it and she never had them since i would try and see if you can find any cure on the net first because she had to pay for them and it wasnt that cheap, good luck.

Yup flour weevils. Chuck out all flour, rice, cereal products, clean out cupboard and start again. Keep watch though in case they lurk.

make sure all open packets are re-sealed. they attract bug like these from no-where. Haven't you seen Kim n Aggie! How clean is your house. lots of good hints to stay clean.

Just clean your cup-boards out with hot soapy water and re-seal bags like flour/rice etc. and they should go away.
