I am looking to find a niche product for the UK market and want to know if there is a directory of overseas ie china asia etc sellers ???

There are several well established emarketplace where you can start to look for. First you need to find out if the niche products you looking for are available in large number of supplier or only limited to a few.
For start you may try out on alibaba.com well famous for it multiple products availability. Here you can see list of suppliers and products well categorize. If you intend to start buying for the seller here, however, I would say you start it with genuine seller, (certified for their origins and not scammer or frauders).
And ever since the introduction of ebay and variety of new e-commerce business, you would recommend you to look at emarketservice. Here you can actually plan your research base on countries, products or even by region. This website I found also provide some useful information on identifying the right supplier, tips and advices on avoiding frauders and also logistic issues for importing goods to UK. Check out their directory for the complete list categorize by countries, products, region and also industry. It would be a good start for you.
If you looking for china seller, try baidu one of their best search engine site. You would probably need google translator for it
Apart you may try others emarketplace directory. I listed a few for you here.
I found some both good suppliers and buyers from Alibaba and asiannet
indiamart is so so though you need to pay for their services.
exporters.com.sg is a singapore company. They do certify their buyer and seller but still precaution is always a must.
Some of these directories offer free services with limited features but it would be a good start for you to scroll around and learn more. Other than some of the site i mention you can try to googled for further information. Can try it out with words such as emarketplace, ecommerce, or etc to do your search.

Go to indianmart.com for indian product.
