Yes.
Three years ago in the late summer, our daughter was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident - she was the passenger .
Ten days after the funeral, our beloved dog that we had for 12 years jumped from the bed one morning, and his left side completely gave out, and he could not stand.
We rushed him to the vet and he had lymphoma, and we tried everything that we could to save him, but sadly, we had to put him down right before Halloween.
And then 6 weeks after that, our beloved cat had to be put down due to cancer.
Tigger had cancer twice before and chemo worked and sent into remission twice, but the last time, it was too much and we had no choice.
That was a very rough year for us, and there were other things that happened the January after all the deaths.
My husband became very ill and took chemo for 48 weeks, which was simply terrible, but luckily he is in full remission now.
And then I became very ill, and was sick for 10 weeks and we're still struggling with that.
The good news is that we were able to celebrate Christmas this past year and were able to talk about our daughter without tears, but with laughter.

I have a friend who has a 6 yr old jack russel terrier, every time she is sick or depressed the dog gets very nervous and won't eat, she has even had to take him to the vet a few times for it, the vet says that it is all in the dogs head, and it is connected to my friend, so I guess if someone who is very close to their pet loses someone close then their pet can sense their feelings, and naturally it makes them feel bad also.

Yes, that has happened in my family. It is really weird isn't it? I think it proves that animals have minds and feelings.
My Aunt died of a sudden heart attack while cleaning my Grandmother's house one day. She had a little dachsund that she was with almost 24/7. My aunt's daughter brought the dog to her house that afternoon after my aunt had died that morning.
The dog was in excellent health. He had not been sick at all. By ten o'clock that night that my aunt died, the dog passed away. Nobody knew why.
We all knew that he wouldn't want to live without his best friend, my aunt. Somehow he knew she was gone and he didn't want to live anymore. It's strange, I can't explain it. But, I know it happens. He wanted to be with my aunt and soon was.

That happened to my friend several years ago (she was 16 or 17 at the time, I believe) Her father killed himself. About 2 weeks after that, her guinea pig died. (I know a guinea pig might not seem like a big deal to some people but, she was attached to that little piggy). Shortly after that happened, her boyfriend dumped her. Her mother told me later that she had broke down crying and said "Why does everyone I love leave me??"
I felt terrible when I heard that.

Well, my great grandma died last year and during that time all my hermit crabs died. (Actually I only had 2 left) But, you should be more about your family member dying then your pets. Pets are awesome and you love them, but your family should come before your pets.

I'd just like to say that has never happened to me but it brought tears to my eyes reading the stories some of you guys have. I feel really sorry for you but 'The things you love most you can say goodbye the easiest to'. Not sure if it's true or not.

My fiancees cat, whom he had rescued from the streets himself, went around the house crying and looking for him after he died. 3 months later he went out one day and didn't come back for 2 months. He stayed five days, long enough to sleep on night in each bed in the house, then he left forever.

Actually my grandmother passed the same year as my dog of 15 years. I'm not sensitive, but sorry if it happened to you.
