A friend of mine helped me set up my custom built computer and every time i turn it on, it gets to a screen right before the desktop.

It says user accounts.

and it has my name.
I didnt set it for a password and am glad.

but

I am tired of having to click on my account name-pic everytime i log in.

How do i get rid of this so it will go straight to desktop in case i'm not siting there.

I went into user accounts and looked around but didnt see anything that said how to get rid of it.

Go to www.microsoft.com and search for tweakui powertoy, download it, it will put an extra item in your control panel. When you click on it, toward the end of the list is a Logon section; under that is Autologon. That'll let you bypass the Welcome screen.

You do not need to download any tweaks for this simple issue. Just follow the instruction below and i'm sure your issue will be taken care of.

Click on Start> Click on Run and type "control userpasswords2" without the quotes and press Enter.

The User Accounts Property Sheet displays.
On the Users tab, clear the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" check box. Click on Apply.

Enter a user name and password that should be used to logon automatically in the dialog box that appears and click on OK.

Now go to Control Panel> User Accounts> Change the Way Users Log On and Off.

Uncheck "Use the Welcome Screen" and "Use Fast User Switching" and you're done.

To delete a user account
1.
Open Computer Management

2.
In the console tree, click Users.

Where?

Computer Management > System Tools > Local Users and Groups > Users

3.
Right-click the user account you want to delete, and then click Delete.

Note

• To open Computer Management, click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management.

• When you need to remove user accounts, it is a good idea to disable the accounts first. When you are certain that disabling the account has not caused a problem, you can safely delete it.

• A deleted user account cannot be recovered.

• The built-in Administrator and Guest accounts cannot be deleted.

Follow these steps if you just want too go to the desktop instead of logging on all the time:

1.> Start
2.> Control Panel
3.> Appearance and Themes
4.> Display
5.> Screen Saver

And if there is a 'tick' on 'On resume, display welcome screen' tick it off, and press apply, and then OK. Then whenever you just switch you monitor on, it will be on the desktop. But if you log off, then you stay log off until you log back on again.

If you want too get rid of the account, you have too log on another user. But make sure you log off on your user first so its save too do so, by these steps you should be able too get rid of the account

1.> Start
2.> Control Panel
3.> User accounts

Click on the account you want too change or delete and then go through the settings.

I hope this was useful for you. Good luck!

Go back to User accounts, click "Change the users log on or off", then uncheck "Use the welcome screen". That should let you boot into windows without having to click anything.
