try realplayer or quicktime player

You need to install codecs for them. You'll find many free codecs here:

ANother option would be installing a player that already includes codecs like VLC or GOM Player. Here are the links:

try to play a file in real player ...............
if it doesnt support the format it will ask u to dwnld the codec itself just click YES
& there u go
winamp 5.32 also supports MP4

check for the latest mediaplayer which supports these formats. install it and so u are.
