Hi friend,
In the 2006 my hubby was also smoking.First ur man should have a wish to leave that habbit.U give him daily some pieces of cloves.whenever he get the thinking of smoke u ask him to put the cloves in his mouth.Cloves or cardamom.Cloves is the best.Ask him to take a resolution to quit that.U don't quarrel with him due to smoking.then It will increase his smoking.

I smoked when my wife and I met. She didn't protest even though she has never smoked. When I quit, she drew a line in the sand. Everything was cleaned to get rid of the smell. The couch was taken out and a new one without the stench of smoke was purchased. And since that day she has demanded there never be another cigarette lit inside her house. She put her foot down so dramatically that I had to give it my best effort to avoid picking them back up.

Hello,
Sounds like we are in the same boat.

My husband has smoked for many years and to be quite honest with you the more I bitched the more he smoked.

He has tried just about everything out on the market.

So I compromised said," Honey if your not going to stop at lest slow down for me, yourself and kids?"
Now 17 years later he still smokes but NOT as much, always uses respect (meaning not in front our us, outside and butts in a tin can". Works for me.

Yes I hate the smell, kisses like an ashtray.
No one is perfect and sure not me.
If this all I have to worry about well I'm laughing.

I also try not to badger him, that only makes it worse.
They have to have the will power from within and not because someone lectured them.

If you could set aside just one down fall. Look to find the good in your husband, well don't need to tell you.
Because you married him for richer, poorer, sickness and health.
You married your best Friend and right now he needs a friend not a mother.

Good luck Sandra

I am sure your husband loves to live. Talk to him about lung cancer and consequent death arising from smoking. Visit anti-smoking websites and take guidance about how one can give up smoking. Ask him to try out the methods that you have learnt from those sites. Ultimately, your husband has to exercise his own will power to quit smoking. You can at best provide him with moral assistance. Ask your children to join you in your crusade. Hopefully they can do it, even if you can't.

I am a smoker and my husband is not. There is nothing any one can do to help me quit. I have been through classes, taken all prescriptions and such and until I get it straight in my head that I really want to quit then there is nothing anyone can do to help. Your husband has to WANT to quit. There are so many methods out there but nothing will work until he truly wants to quit and is ready to do it. When that happens then he should talk to his doctor for a help in doing it.

Ask him to think about the timings, places he likes to smoke.

For e.g.
When he wakes up,
After breakfast,
While going to office,
In office,
After lunch,
Evening tea,
while leaving office,
after dinner,
While going to bed etc

Ask him to think the places and timings he smokes, and ask him to think that he should not do that one fine day [This worked out for me though i am a chain smoker and working on high stress job, my age is 27 and got scared about cardiac arrest]... OR ask him to avoid smokes on one or two timings day by day, Give him time to think about quitting [He should think about that always] ... Sure he will ...

Consider taking him to the nearest hospital and allow a doctor to let him view patients that are dying from smoking related diseases. That way he can see that it not only affects his health, moreover their loved ones who will watch their partners, fathers, mothers etc die from this bad habit.

Ask him to go the nearest Sahajayoga centre and start meditating in an earnest manner. He should quit the habit in just three to six months.
