There are two possibilities. The first is to work on another campaign and learn the ropes. The second is run your own campaign and write your own speeches. If you don't know the requirements of the job, how can you judge the ability of someone you are going to hire?

If you are just a beginner and have no political history, it will be difficult to find and hire the good ones to work for you. If you manage to do a good job and become known in one way or another, the volunteers will come to you. Hopefully some will have the skills you desire.

My biggest issues were description and characterisation. With description I was using far too many words in the narrative and not really showing enough. My plot would move on quickly but without the necessary flow; it was jerky and had too many chunks of text, containing more adjectives and adverbs than were needed. It's one of the hardest things to tackle in writing, and has taken years for me to improve to a standard I'm happy with. Characterisation was not quite as much of a problem, but my dialogue wasn't great and I never switched narrative to a character's point of view, which I've since found is very useful for improving both description and characterisation. Another problem was the 'lesser' characters; while my main characters remained different enough, I found it very tough to add in others that were needed at the point in the plot and make them different. Since starting my main work - a novel - six years have gone by, during which I've done a lot of reading, which helped me improve without really thinking about it. I've also just finished a degree which, while sapping up all my time, helped me learn a completely different type of writing (academic). This also helped me understand style, and I've now gone right back to the start of my novel to re-write all 50,000 words I'd done, because despite numerous edits I knew I could do better. And you know what? The re-written bit is vastly superior to the first attempt
