you are right so why put your kid in that siuation? If he won't marry you stop playing house and get your own.Why add another child? It's never worth the compromise of your happiness for a roof over your head. You may as well get your own place and get paid for your services.

Its two years in the Uk. This is one of the reasons why if your partner is british and you are African you can get your leave extended once you have been living together,if you have been living together for 2 years or more but have to have proof of living together. You could always ask at the citizans advice breau and see what they say and its free to get info from there. If you are having worries like this I dont think you are ready to have a baby with this man. Just wait a little while longer and see how things go. Maybe talk about marrage to him and see what he thinks.
Dont rush into anything that you are not ready for.
Good luck

There is no such thing in the UK. You will not get the same rights as married people in your situation. Perhaps you should seek legal advice to draw up a contract that you both can agree on so if the relationship fails you and your children will be protected.
You may also need to remember that if neither of you have a will and one of you dies the parents or family of that person will get their estate. The children may get it but it will belong to them not you. - Could be problematic later on.
Good Luck

I think that you have to research common law marriage in Scotland. I can tell you this, here in the states, just because you live with someone for an amount of time doesnt make you common law married. It takes more than that. He has to acknowledge somewhere that you are his wife too.

there neither is or has ever been such a thing as a 'common law wife' in any legal way, but now people living together in a partnership have similar rights and responsibilities as if they were married.

COMMON LAW LIVING DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE SAME RIGHTS AS A WIFE.IF HE HAS STATED HE HAS NO INTEREST IN EVER GETTING MARRIED THEN YOU HAVE NO LEG TO STAND ON. HAVING A BABY IS NOT THE BEST WAY IF YOU ARE HAVING DOUBTS ABOUT YOUR FUTURE SECURITY.EVEN IN THE USA I BELIEVE THERE ARE ONLY 12 STATES THAT RECOGNIZE IT AND THERE ARE RULES/ GET A WRITTEN AGREEMENT.

Well in Canada if you lived with your boyfriend or girlfriend for about a year, you are now living in common law, just like a husband and wife.

if he decides it is over u have nothing to help u. if u are good enough to sleep with why are u not good enough to marry. i would get a job, save some money, just in case the worst happened. don't have any kids by him if he isn't willing to marry u.

In Texas, you could be living together for 100 years, and if you break up, you get nothing.
