I mean, I know some really great and nice people who smoke, but in most cases, those people get angrier easier and stuff. Do you think that people who smoke should be able to teach kids? Because, well.. they aren't exactly setting an example are they? Even if they didn't say anything about it, I think you would be able to tell by their teeth and smell, don't you? What do you think?Sure they might be smart enough, but say, a kid fogot to do their homework and the teacher gets reaaallyy mad. There's a bigger chance of that happening, don't you think?

I have a teacher like this. I suspected he smokes because when we didn't study something exactly the way he wanted, he goes ballistic. He has yellow teeth and smells like cigarettes, and I knew my suspicion was confirmed when he took a lighter out of his pocket one time.

I like to see them smoke cause it means soon they will be fully combusted and can't get their mediocre public servant ideas into brains of littlies anymore.

There is no research that says that people who smoke get angrier than others who don't. Used to smoke but gave it up years ago, and think it is one of the best things I ever did. When I walk in the morning I meet this fellow, who you can smell a mile off going either ways, because of the cigarettes, and I wonder how could anyone smoke so early in the morning. I guess we shouldn't be too judgmental though, because it is a difficult habit to give up. I think teachers who smoke probably shouldn't allow their students see them smoking, at least not on the school campus. Probably they could have a smoking section in the staff room.

The same can be said for people who do not smoke, it is not a question of cigarettes or teachers in the public school systems, but who they are as a person.
I have known a lot of teachers at my old high school who smoke, and they were really good at the job, even one, almost every student in the school liked him for the ways he tought each class.
The only thing I think about this, is that if they smoke, it should still be off-school premises and, depending on the age of the students, how many cigarettes they smoke a day.

NIcotine withdrawal or depreivation really could increase irritability in a teacher or anyone else. While in class, teachers do need follow standards of conduct, they cannot be required to be saints in their private life.
Displaying cigarettes or other smoking accessories would be wildly uinprofessional, however.
Frankly, I would not employ a smoker for any job, period. Too many absences and illnesses, far high health costs, and unfortunately some pretty bad attitudes accompany this addiction. And allergic children might be at risk from just what clings to clothing. (Banning perfumes would also make sense for that.)
People have a right to smoke in private with other adults. Anything else is not a protected behavior, including employment.

Wow, I'd like to find some real information on this correlation. Most smokers I know seem more relaxed than most. Sounds like the general disinformation propegated by anti-smokers. For instance, while smoking greatly increases the likelihood of heart disease, it is not true that cigarettes kill.
Slightly off topic; I'd also like to know why smokers have to pay a "sin" tax when people who drive SUV's don't. A correlation could be drawn between them and all our kids getting killed in Iraq.
Clearly, I am an irate smoker.

Are you a bigot? Teachers are expected to know their subjects. Why don't you just say unless you are upright morally we will let you teach. What should teachers who smoke do? Beg on the street? If the teacher doesn't smoke in front of the class, or on school grounds what is that to you. I have known people to become even more irritable when they quit smoking. Of course you don't have any bad habits. Let he who is without sin throw the first stone, right?

Sounds like he needs a cigarette. I honestly think that teachers and any one else should not smell like ciggies because it does stink and it is hard to pay attention when their breath stinks so bad you can't inhale. I think they should have to wait until after hours to smoke. And how are you supposed to take someone seriously if there teeth are freakin yellow?

SHUTUP...all that rambling, needless chatter of yours just goes on and on. Someone's personal life should not interfere with his/her ability to teach.
