A friend of mine had the same problem and the cause of it was the changeover valve. This wasn't on a Baxi boiler, but maybe they work the same. Hope this helps.

Sithy is close.
It's unlikely to be the boiler or you wouldn't have any heat for the radiators. Having said that, a 19 year old boiler won't be at its best so consider a replacement with a modern condensing unit anyway. It'll cut your gas bills.
First check that your hot water storage cylider thermostat (usually mounted near the bottom 1/4 of the cylinder) is set at about 30C. It may have got turned down or disconnected at some time.
You probably have a grey box near your hot water storage cylinder (usually in airing cupboard) with three pipes and a wire going into it. This is a three way valve which sends your hot water either to your radiators or to the hot water storage cylinder. It is controlled by the operation of the hot water cylinder thermostat and the wall mounted "room thermostat" (usually in your hall).
The idea is that bloody hot water from the boiler is fed to the radiators most of the time and is diverted to the heat exchanger in your cylinder when the tap water gets below the set temperature (usually considerably below what is used by the radiators).
Either this valve has got stuck (most likely) and its sending water from the boiler to the radiators only, OR the thermostat on your hot water cylinder has failed and its not sending control signals to the three way valve.
Good hunting.

I think its nothing to with the boiler... The boiler produces heat to heat the water which is stored in your hot water cylinder... the way this water is then delivered is by the force of the cold water in the tank above it. If the water level in this tank is very low ( maybe the ball valve is stuck) there will not be enough pressure formed to force the hot water out of the cylinder. The cost of replacing the ball valve which you can easily do yourself is probably abot a tenner whilst to replace the boiler will probably exceed a grand! Worth a look!!!
However if the boiler is 19 years old its well past its sell by date & running on borrowed time so will need replacing before too long, Good luck with it

The best advice is ... don't even try to fix a 19 year old boiler ! once you start messing with it it'll never end , get some quotes for a new boiler and you know it will work . they are cheaper than you think .

if you have a hot water tank (immersion) tank, there will be 2 x automatic valves (grey boxes), one is for hot water, one is for heating, run the system, there is an arm that will move as the valve opens, if the arm doesnt move when water should be on, then the motor may have gone, you can move the arm manually to the on postion, and this will give you hot water whilst the heating system is running, to replace these motors costs about £30 for the motor. plus the bill for plumber.
if its a combi, cant recall what would cause this, will try n get back to you

you probably have got a Y plan system ..in this system you have a valve called a diverter valve ..so when you call for heating the valve moves over to give you heat ..when you want hot water .the valve moves over to the other side of the Y.. when you want both ..it sits in the middle ..i suspect the valve has stuck..it is not unusual.. PS they can be overridden and moved manualy....the valve is normally in your airing cupboard

Have you tried turning off the heat while you take your shower? In my house you have to turn off the heat before you turn on the shower otherwise it's cold.

low water pressure perhaps? your radiators may need draining?
