I'd say the chicken, because if an egg came 1st, who sat on it till it hatched?
But if a chicken & rooster came 1st, they'll have an egg & that egg will have a chicken to lay on it!!
:)

Both and neither cam first...
Both are the continuation of a previous substance. There is no beginning to either, just cause and effect and dependent origination... The chicken was the effect of the egg, and the egg was the effect of a chicken.. basically, its beginning less, which confuses many people, they always expect there to be a beginning.. Check up on it..
in fact, it doesn't really matter, cause we eat both of them! hehe

all genetic mutations occur invitro (in development) so to answer your question as simply as possibly without giving you a college genetic's course, the egg came first then thru evolution, mutation time the chicken that we now enjoy bbq'ed,baked, and fryed is the product of something else.....and probably millions of years from now, the chicken that we know will look and be something completely different....bc of adaption
