When cd is inserted into rewriter all is OK. draw opens and closes. PC reads disc, program to burn from play list and nothing happens, I think it is cos the green light on the rewriter has gone out after approx 15 seconds ..................hhhhHHMMmmmmmm....any Ideas

First, reboot and then try again to burn the data.
2nd double left click My Computer, if you see your cd rom drive there great. If you don't, it went bad.
3rd Which probably should be first, confirm that you put a blank CD in the drive and not a blank DVD in the drive.
Next go into the control panel, go to system\hardware\device manager, do you see any yellow exclamation marks in there around the CD Rom, if so , right click it , remove the cd rom and reboot, this should reset it.
If that doesn't work maybe it needs to be replaced.... is simple to do. Tiger Direct sells a nice Lite On for less than $50 and they are easy to install....hope this helps....

had this 3 days ago, the driver software for the cd drive is corrupt or buggered. do a system restore to a previous date when it did work(if you are running xp)

Better answer from the guy below, didn't know it would sort itself out though with a simple reboot?
