If a band was slipping you would bounce from one gear to the last and back again. If your feeling slippage--this is not a band. only if it can't hold a gear would it be. But, bands are not a easy thing to change in most cases--still requires the transmission to be disassembled. You need to take it to a shop---it maybe the torque converter that is going bad, the front pump, clutch packs, or a hole list of small parts.

There is no such thing as a simple band replacement as the transmission has to come out and be disassembled to replace a band. Also if you give out more information on vehicle type that would be helpful.

If you can feel your engine seem like its slipping into or out of gear you should have your transmission bands adjusted, clean the screens, along with your transmission oil.
This might alleviate your problem but if not... take it to a professional transmission dealership.

If the roadies haven't set up the equipment yet, it shouldn't be a problem. Some bands require to be paid if they are canceled at the last minute.
