I live in SC, I usually set out my tomato plants on Good Friday. Some old wives tale says that there will not be another frost after Good Friday, it doesn't always hold true. So in case of frost I cover the plants with a small plastic cup at night and remove the cup in the morning. I usually start picking tomatos around the end of June, and there have been years that I have had fresh tomatos until Dec. Good luck and welcome to the south ya'll
