im not the type of person who seeks out a fight, but i have ended a relationship and distanced myself from others for all the wrong reasons. perceived slights, paranoid delusions, and unrequited respect have all at one point or another conspired against me.

Yeah, over an girlfriend (not ex). I would never put myself through that again.
Actually I would fight for my wife. But I think that is something that is okay to defend.
Now if the question is regarding an argument? Yes I have, but with age I concern myself with fighting over worthy situations and not trivia situations. Many fights between two can be avoided. Just ask yourself is it worth fighting about, before saying something.

There is no reason for fighting, someon wants to play the "one up game"~ move away from that person find a new circle of friends, if that need be.

Have I? yes, it was not apparent at first but somewhere in the fight I have realized that I was fighting for the wrong reasons and for the wrong side. Sad but true.

oh yes, sometimes its easier to vent your anger at someone or something else rather than dealing with whats really bothering you, its wrong i know but sometimes its a start to getting down to what its really all about

Haven't we all? Not sure if fighting is ever correct behavior but sometimes you do have to defend yourself.
