agreed. money is a tool, like any other thing. if we treated rocks as money then rocks would be the root of all evil. so the essense of the root of all evil is obviously not within the money itself but in the way it is essentially worshiped by many so that people would do crazy things for it. you can write with a pencil, or you can stab someone in the eye with it, the evil is not contained within the pencil, but the intention. so the most logical way to say it i think would be... "the desire and irrational attachment for persons, places or things is the root of all evil" ...but then again i would just be preaching something not far off from buddhism :)

Thanks for a very thoughtful and timely revision to an age old cliche. The time is right for us to make such minor alterations in our mind sets. I wonder if Pink Floyd would have changed anything in their famous song if that was the original way the line went! Ah.. the wasted time of "what if's!"!
Your continuation of this sentiment is bang on. Now, if anyone can convince the gas and oil companies, the banks and the war profiteers, and our governments who seem to represent them more than us, to start acting accordingly, our world would be a better place.
I know the Beatles swear that all we need is love, but, hey, we need to find proper balance between love and money to improve the lot of this planet and all of us who live upon it.

You are right.Evil is influence and experience. If you are influenced by your friends smoke is good, then you experience it by trying and then you are addicted. Money doesnt make you evil, its how you get influenced by it and the experience makes you evil. In the end, it ends up to be the decisions you make is what makes you evil....man my english writing is terrible and horroble.

I would agree. Much good can be done with money. The love of money (greed) causes all sorts of grief.
